Sam C. Houser, Chief Executive Officer
With an eye on the future, Sam C. Houser, CEO of Houser Logistics, Inc. grew up understanding the value of family, hard work, dedication and a commitment to service. Under the watchful eye of his father, he was immersed in the freight business at an early age and was able to learn transportation bottom to top. After high school, he studied traffic and transportation at Catawba Valley Community College.
This unique perspective spawned a career in transportation that has transformed a small family owned operation into an impressive trucking corporation that boasts coast-to-coast expedited service that rivals any competition. Those same core values that began a family owned company back in 1970 attributed to the success the company has enjoyed for many years. Although the scope of Houser Logistics, Inc. continues to broaden to meet the needs of our ever expanding customer base, our focus on family and customer satisfaction has never been stronger. Having served on numerous boards, including the Lincoln Medical Center Board of Directors, Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, and as Chairman of the Lincoln Economic Development Association Board, Sam believes that only by investing in people and technology can a company improve their cutting edge for the future.
Sherry Houser Lee, President
Currently serving as our President with 30 years of experience, Sherry is involved in all facets of the company. In addition to her role at Houser Logistics, Inc., she and her husband own and operate Hidden Valley Farms, a poultry and cattle operation located in Casar, NC.
Sherry’s leadership and her passion for customer service and employee welfare remains her prime focus. This coupled with her strength in sales, public relations, and employee morale has been a key factor in our success.
Candy Houser Feaganes, Vice President of Operations
Candy H. Feaganes, our Vice President of Operations, oversees our service centers, dispatch, and linehaul operations. Having a lifelong history in transportation, like many of the leaders at Houser Logistics, Inc., Candy has worked her way through the ranks from early age and excels in customer service and problem solving. Her ability to think critically and quickly to resolve complex situations is an asset to the company and our customers. Whether it’s with clients, employees or management, Candy’s ability to communicate sound business practices and solutions is second to none.
Denise R. Elliott, Chief Financial Officer
Denise Elliott, a native of Western Kentucky, graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with emphasis in mathematics and computer science. She has over nine years of experience in public accounting, including exposure to retail, automotive, non-profit, construction, governmental, service, and manufacturing industries. Her experience includes personal and corporate income tax, estate tax, financial planning and computer systems management.
Working with Houser Logistics, Inc. has enhanced her understanding of the transportation industry and the related record keeping and regulatory requirements. Denise currently serves as CFO of the company, bringing over 30 years of experience, and will continue to be a valuable resource as Houser Transport grows and develops its market.
Patty J. Toler, Director of Business Development
Patty’s extensive background in all facets of transportation solutions gives her the experience needed to provide the right solution for your transportation and warehousing needs.
Patty’s drive and passion for customer satisfaction is unsurpassed in the industry. By utilizing a proactive management style, she insures her customer’s needs are satisfied by utilizing her thirty plus years of experience in sales, operations and regulations. Lewis "Buddy" Holson, Director of Sales
Buddy holds the position of Director of Sales at Houser Logistics, Inc.. He started with the company in October 2009, but has been in the transportation industry for over 30 years. With a vast back ground in LTL, business development and customer retention, Buddy thrives within his sales and marketing accountabilities. Outside of Houser Logistics, Inc., Buddy serves as the Executive Director of the North Carolina League of Transportation & Logistics, a non-profit 501 C(6) Organization formed in 1929. He resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Christy, and two sons, Mckinley and Nolan.
Colby L. Houser, Safety/Human Resources
Colby knew at an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in transportation. During her time at Houser Logistics, Inc., she has assumed a range of roles and responsibilities to increase her knowledge of daily operations. Colby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership which has made her uniquely qualified to lead Houser Logistics, Inc.’s Human Resources and Safety Department. She is also responsible for the Houser Herald, a newsletter which includes periodic industry updates, company goals, promotions and events. Colby’s service to Houser Logistics, Inc. is an invaluable component of the overall daily operations to ensure company compliance, employee safety and relations, training and development, and recruitment and selection.
Lisa P. Houser, Special Project Coordinator
Lisa coordinates the efforts of all team members to seamlessly maintain communication, achieve common goals and provide quality customer service. She also oversees event planning, property maintenance, marketing and corporate image.
Ginger T. Lunsford, East Coast Customer Service Manager
Ginger has been in the transportation industry since 1989. Her career began in customer service and handling damage claims. She then spent 15 years on outside sales in the Southeast before joining Houser Logistics, Inc. in 2013. Ginger’s knowledge and experience have been invaluable to the Houser customer service program.
Stacie B. Hicks, Rating & Billing Manager
Stacie has served in the transportation industry since 2005 and joined Houser Logistics, Inc.’s Customer Service team in 2010. Her duties include shipment tracking and assisting in the accounting department. She is a team player who can step in wherever she is needed.
Joann B. Saunders, Accounting/Payroll
Joann entered the accounting field straight out of school and never looked back. She and her family returned to Lincoln county, where she joined Houser Logistics, Inc., after 13 years of living at the coast. She has been a valuable member of the Houser Logistics, Inc. team since March 2014.
Tim Kirby, West Coast Operations Manager
Early in life, Tim developed an interest in the field of Computer Integrated Logistics. He attended California State University in Long Beach, California where he studied Business as well as the fundamentals of cost-effective materials handling and supply chain management. Soon thereafter, he was able to put his education to work as the Manager of Logistics for a large furniture manufacturer in Southern California. As a quick study in his chosen field, Tim soon assumed responsibility for all aspects of the supply chain function including import/export, warehouse management, transportation and distribution, packaging, and carrier rate/service negotiation. He later worked in sales and marketing for a number of leading supply chain providers, particularly within the home furnishings industry. After various assignments with these companies, he began as West Coast Operations Manager. Tim is skilled in virtually all aspects of the supply chain and he continues to contribute fresh and exciting new methods of cost control and productivity improvement for his company and customers.
Julie M. Mello, West Coast Customer Service Manager
Julie began working for Houser Logistics, Inc. in 2013, but her time in the furniture/transportation industry spans over 15 years. She first began learning the trade while working for a furniture manufacturing company as a Customer Service Representative, eventually advancing to Operations Manager. Julie later transferred into the transportation industry as a Dispatcher.
Julie continued her time in the transportation industry at FTW, Houser Logistics, Inc.’s sister company, in 2009 working in 3PL shipping. Since 2013, She has been happily working first as a Dispatcher for Houser Logistics, Inc. and now as West Coast Customer Service Manager in the Ontario, California terminal.
Blake Goble, East Coast Warehouse Supervisor
Blake joined the Houser Logistics, Inc. team in early 2013 with no aspiration of making transportation a career choice. While earning his certification in law enforcement, firefighting and as a level 1 hazmat operator, he was employed part time at Houser Logistics, Inc. as a dock worker. Blake’s attention to safety regulations coupled with the secure and proper handling of our customers’ product earned him a full time position in the Houser Logistics, Inc. warehouses. Attention to detail and a strong work ethic awarded Blake his current position as East Coast Warehouse Supervisor. We are pleased to have Blake and his new bride, Chelsea, as a welcome addition to the Houser Logistics, Inc. family. Working for Houser Logistics, Inc., Blake has been afforded the opportunity to continue to serve as a Volunteer Firefighter in his local community as well as continue his education.
Layton Hewitt, Linehaul Dispatch
Layton began his career at Houser Logistics, Inc. at an early age, spending summer vacation and holidays working part time. Over the years, Layton trained in every facet available to him from working in the shop assisting the service department to observing sales calls. During his high school years, he successfully ran a small business dedicated to the cleaning and sanitizing of truck interiors. The importance of hard work and service to others was instilled in Layton from childhood. “Growing up in the trucking industry is an education in and of itself”, said Layton. He credits his upbringing for his firm foundation and commitment to a job well done. Layton attended Cleveland Community college to attain his Firefighting and Hazmat certifications. Although he loves firefighting, his true calling is in the transportation industry. Layton’s ability to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of his current role as Linehaul Dispatch has come through years of hands-on experience.
